Methodology

The rules behind confidence bands, visibility weights and before-and-after verdicts, read from the running code.

Vendor and first-party agreement

These bands describe relative disagreement between vendor traffic and Google Search Console. They do not certify accuracy.

High confidence: disagreement below
15.00%
Medium confidence: from the high boundary up to
40.00%
Low confidence: disagreement above
40.00%

Visibility index weights

The versioned index combines normalized search visibility, citation rate and AI-referral traffic. Search visibility uses keyword volume weighting. Missing inputs are excluded and the remaining weights are renormalized. They are never filled with zero.

Weights version

Citation rate

Measurement floors and thresholds

Each surface needs enough observations on both sides of a change. Crossing a threshold describes movement; it does not establish what caused it.

Citation window floor (days)
35
Search observations per side
3
Citation checks per side
4
Traffic baseline clicks (or impressions)
50

What is not measured

Checks cover the sampled prompts, engines and dates. They do not measure every AI answer, guarantee a citation or prove that a change caused traffic to move. A missing sample is not a zero.

  • CiteSonar turns your Search Console, analytics and AI-answer checks into a ranked list of changes, each with its receipts. You apply the change; we check it went live and measure what moved.

  • When you connect a site, CiteSonar asks Google for read-only access to that site's Google Search Console and Google Analytics data. We use it only to show your search and traffic figures, rank the changes worth making, and measure whether a change you made moved clicks and visits. We never change anything in your Google account, never sell the data or use it for advertising, and never use it to train AI models. You can disconnect at any time.
